We've spent the last two weeks preparing, experiencing, and picking up after Hurricane Irma. This hurricane was nothing like Matthew, the hurricane we had last year. It was much much worse. The winds and rain this time, caused so a lot of damage to our neighborhood, or neighbors' homes, AND to our home.
While Addi Kate and I set up a "slumber party" in the bathroom...what we also called our Safe Room, David was helping our neighbors move furniture and tarp up their roofs due to fallen trees. As soon as the storm was passed and David finally decided to go to bed our neighbor came over to warn us about an oak tree that was leaning toward OUR house. Fortunately, we had about 45 minutes to move our cars before the tree fell.
Although we have some damage to our home, it was nothing compared to what others experienced. I think the scariest part was that Addi Kate, Kodi, and I were in the backyard and able to watch the entire thing.
A tree company did come out the next and used a crane to pull the tree off our home, but we still have the debris out in front of our house. Check out ALL the debris from this one tree...
Luckily Addi wasn't scared at all through the storm. She actually had "fun" sleeping in our bathroom and playing around the house with Kodi. We are just hoping that we can all the aftermath picked up before another hurricane makes its way to Jacksonville. We are closely watching Hurricane Maria as she is slowly gaining speed and headed our way! Prayers!
